Our Mission: Loaves and Fishes is an organization that seeks to provide food for the needy and the organization that feeds them in Metro Louisville.
Our Vision: When you feed an empty stomach you heal a troubled mind.
In the year 2000, Curtis Taylor was downhearted by unemployment. As he pondered his situation, Curtis saw a homeless man rooting in a trash can and proceeding to dine on a half-eaten discarded hamburger. As many of us realize throughout our lives, Curtis appreciated that his situation was not that dire. From that experience grew a mission program that began with distributing leftover meals from church suppers from the trunk of his car to an organization that provides over 200 freshly prepared meals every Saturday night and a distribution program that serves over 10,000 people in the community annually.
What we do:
Each week we prepare meals to serve the homeless. Our menu is typically macaroni & cheese, green beans and fried chicken. We prepare at St. Francis in the Fields and serve at the Salvation Army building downtown. The needs of the homeless and less fortunate are many and a warm meal is a small but important way for them to experience God’s love for them. Loaves & Fishes serves veterans, the mentally disabled, families facing difficult times and those in need of a fortifying meal. Loaves and Fishes proudly partners with St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church and Dare to Care.
