SUPPORT THE HOMELESS
Who we are
Loaves and Fishes Inc. is an organization that seeks to be Louisville's premier provider of food to the needy. Loaves & Fishes is supported by donations and is blessed with volunteers who help procure donations, organize fundraising events and serve in hundreds of ways. Loaves & Fishes serves veterans, the mentally disabled, families facing difficult times and those in need of a fortifying meal.
Curtis Taylor has created a name for himself; the Chicken Man. He has been feeding the homeless for over 10 years in Louisville, KY and takes pride in the work he does for our community. In addition, Loaves and Fishes works with a number of area ministries redistributing food and donations including the Healing Place, Golden Arrow, St. John’s, Wayside and others.
What we do
Each week Loaves and Fishes prepares meals to serve the homeless. The menu is typically macaroni & cheese, green beans and fried chicken. The food is prepared at St. Francis in the Fields and served at the Salvation Army building downtown. As the economy has down turned, the needs of the homeless and less fortunate have multiplied. About ten years ago 90 plates were served on a busy night. Now, a busy night is over 200 plates.
"It has been very special for me to have a role model like Curtis to look up to and learn from. He has taught me by example how to give back to the community and to look out for those in need."
-Kate Marquardt, Volunteer
